Customs House – The Burger Parlour
Customs House based in Barrow-in-Furness, is owned by a husband a wife team Rob and Zoe Rollings and now has two restaurants, a function spaces to hire as well as a play zone.
Function Room Refurbishment
We were briefed to repurpose and refurbish a redundant function room within Custom House with the aim to create a family-friendly food offer.
bwd worked with Rob and Zoe to look at the menu, how it would be presented as well as how the restaurant interior should look. The brand name was suggested by bwd. We developed the brand mark and restaurant interior. A small room at the entrance to the restaurant was going to be used as a ‘welcome area’ however, bwd suggested creating an ice-cream parlour to not only service both restaurants but to open to customers using an upper floor play zone enabling them to have an ice-cream anytime.
The Burger Parlour offers a range of homemade ‘proper burgers’ as well as real ice cream sundaes. We didn’t want to make Rob and Zoe’s place an American diner, or a grill. We worked with some of the existing architecture of the room to create a bright, family-friendly space. The Burger Parlour simply do good burgers and ice cream, their way. Customers walk through the ice-cream parlour on their way to the main restaurant which has encouraged sales of their amazing ice-cream.
